Weekend Wind down

As I sit her at 7.30 Sunday evening I am wondering what made this such a good weekend. Then I realised it was because we did not have anything in particular to do, no obligation to anyone, so we got to relax (as much as you can with two small boys) Friday after work we had visited the Teach Jack gang for cups of tea, gossip and playing in their Beverley Hills style playhouse. Eldest son pushed the pram while his "wife" tended to the baby whilst youngest son polished off his first jammy dodger with a sticky smile.I had the lie in Saturday morning...a great start to any weekend and really all we achieved that day was to invite around two of the boys favourite cousins and listen to the laughter and squeals of delight that brought.BMM joined us for tea and then it was the heaven of two hours of X Factor. GASP enjoyed the Sunday lie in and after mass we headed off to MIL's house for a cuppa, a chat, a crawl and Wii session. After a hurried lunch I declared we were off to the playground and astro turf pitch in Ardee before the promised rain arrived. I did mention to GASP, as I played football and he wheeled the buggy that the four fit Polish Basketball players might question his sexuality. He dropped the handle of the buggy as if it had suddenly gone on fire and joined his son on the pitch....works every time !It is now X Factor again.....HEAVEN !
Other friends of ours, whose sons are somewhat older, certainly gave their parents a weekend to remember in a different way, when one of their friends alcohol intake meant that Mum and Dad had to sit up with him all night, while the other partied. They thought the " up all night with the kids" was well and truly over...not so. This child's crime was nothing compared to that of the father who had bought bottles of Pouilly Fumee for a bunch of 18 year old males.....sacrilege !Luckily his quick thinking wife changed that plan and I for one am looking forward to some decent imbibing in the near future !
