Musical musings



I settled down this evening with the local paper and proceeded to read the "Songs of the Year Special". I aged 20 years in a matter of seconds as I recognised exactly 3 artists of the 15 mentioned !These were Eminem, Rihanna and Kanye West. I had never heard of Cee Lo Green, Tinie Tempah or MGMT. I know that I own a copy of "Now Thats What I Call Music 1" and a pink pressed vinyl Elvis Double Album. I have Thriller on vinyl and will admit to loving the Andrews Sisters but have I actually died ? There is a whole world of Music, Twitter, Drugs, Sex and iPads out there I know nothing about. I am a forty year old fossil. I think I'm trendy because I know who Miley Cyrus is, have seen Camp Rock with the Jonas Brothers and own Planet Jedward ,but I am,in fact, a nerd. Very soon I will embarass my 5 year old, teenagers will giggle at me in the street and my dancing at weddings will be on u tube. Mind you, I am cooler than GASP, who owns a few "tapes" and dances like an electrocuted jellyfish ....bless him !

    Hi lara, I was feeling ancient at a friends wedding yesterday, we were bopping to rock& roll and even did "YMCA"- the shame of it! I asked for some lady gaga, it came on the the dance floor emptied. Flash backs to me as a teenager cringing at my parents dancing- not long now & our kids will be doing the same...

Yesterday I announced the the KOK's that I would be running the Judge 6K naked. By naked I meant I was going to leave my smartphone with it's running app in my car, not have it strapped to my arm advising me of every kilometer done, telling me my average speed and generally annoying me. Hunky Dory.....NOT !

It was definitely the crisps ! This is the story of a girl who will NEVER eat the green Hunky Dorys EVER AGAIN ! The poor girl ( poetic license) thought last Friday night would be a straightforward evening of chat, dancing, fun at the evening of her first cousins wedding, but it didn't exactly turn out, as she thought it would. Of course The Mad One and the FIS ( fluent Irish speaker) set the wheels in motion, when they met in Lidl and decided that the men were to be left at home, and it would be a girls night out. Again The Mad One compounded matters when she offered to drive and collect the poor girl from her home on Friday evening to make the 90 minute trip to the hotel. On the way, the crack was mighty, but being three women in a car, there had to be a loo and coffee stop, at which point FIS showed her true Irish roots, bu arriving back into the car with a selection of snacks "for the journey home". Fat Friends

The key to looking slim is hanging around with people who are fatter than you are.I kinda forget this and have failed to make myself look any better due to the fact that those I am most often seen with are all smaller than I. I am not suggesting that I hang around with a bunch of supermodels ( they will not be offended by this). I try to hang with the "built for comfort not for speed" type but the FA has let me down badly a) by turning into a slim person and b) by introducing an even slimmer Sparkle to the group ! And she's meant to be a friend!The Baking Queen is pregnant...thank you, the blonde declares she has put on a stone ( I am not sure but it's good of her to say) and Newly Single has a Thyroid problem...happy days !True friends !
