Saturday Night Part 3 !


Right, here we go again ! Sunday, I had decided was going to be a family day out, to the Food and Wine Christmas Show. I was keen to go for a few reasons, 1. Food, 2. Wine, 3. Santa and 4. the chance to see my cousin the Pastry Chef of The Cake Stand ( not necessarily in that order).I donned the new underwear (again) under some warm clothing...just in case ! My plans were nearly thwarted by 2 inches of snow and the AA advising people not to travel unless absolutely necessary. I had a job convincing GASP of the "absolutely necessary" part of a Food and Wine Show, so I used language he would understand and said " this is my Leinster Final".....job done !Off we set with enough stuff in the car should we have to sleep in it overnight, but the M1 was clear keeping a smug smile on my face....until we hit Dublin ! The city was immersed in 3 inches of snow and the roads were a disaster but since we'd got that far , we ploughed ( literally) on to the RDS. Items 3. and 4. were great. Santa was adorable and both boys were enthralled. The Pastry Chef looked great in spite of her mammoth work load and we got to meet her new beau....lovely ! Her macaroons will need to come in a bigger box soon as she won yet another award ( silver medal for Artisan Food)having previously won a gold and silver Bord Bia medal. Her work is truly amazing and is all on view on www.thecakestand.ie. I got two boxes of Macaroons, but am having to really think about whom I like enough to give them to.
As regards the other Food and Wine elements of the show, I must admit to being somewhat disappointed. I know it clashed with the Taste of Christmas ,but it fell well short of my expectations. The Christmas Market in Sage and Stone the day before was much more atmospheric and fun. About 3.30 we decided to hit the snowy road to make sure we made it home. Eldest son consumed his chocolate Santa on the way home.He was full of beans on seeing the snow around the house and bounced around so much in the sitting room that he threw up RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE of the carpet the Carpet Man had cleaned last Wed ( Saturday Night part 2)!!!!!! We lit the fire, I put together Chicken in a White Wine sauce with rice and poured myself my first glass of Hungarian Sauvignon Blanc....surprisingly good.
The boys went off to bed and suffice it to say .....New Underwear...Va Va Voom....FINALLY !

Yesterday I announced the the KOK's that I would be running the Judge 6K naked. By naked I meant I was going to leave my smartphone with it's running app in my car, not have it strapped to my arm advising me of every kilometer done, telling me my average speed and generally annoying me. Hunky Dory.....NOT !

It was definitely the crisps ! This is the story of a girl who will NEVER eat the green Hunky Dorys EVER AGAIN ! The poor girl ( poetic license) thought last Friday night would be a straightforward evening of chat, dancing, fun at the evening of her first cousins wedding, but it didn't exactly turn out, as she thought it would. Of course The Mad One and the FIS ( fluent Irish speaker) set the wheels in motion, when they met in Lidl and decided that the men were to be left at home, and it would be a girls night out. Again The Mad One compounded matters when she offered to drive and collect the poor girl from her home on Friday evening to make the 90 minute trip to the hotel. On the way, the crack was mighty, but being three women in a car, there had to be a loo and coffee stop, at which point FIS showed her true Irish roots, bu arriving back into the car with a selection of snacks "for the journey home". Fat Friends

The key to looking slim is hanging around with people who are fatter than you are.I kinda forget this and have failed to make myself look any better due to the fact that those I am most often seen with are all smaller than I. I am not suggesting that I hang around with a bunch of supermodels ( they will not be offended by this). I try to hang with the "built for comfort not for speed" type but the FA has let me down badly a) by turning into a slim person and b) by introducing an even slimmer Sparkle to the group ! And she's meant to be a friend!The Baking Queen is pregnant...thank you, the blonde declares she has put on a stone ( I am not sure but it's good of her to say) and Newly Single has a Thyroid problem...happy days !True friends !
