Easter Eggcellence

Last night The Mad One, The Spud Farmer, GASP and I journeyed to our home village of Slane to see the Hot House Flowers. I turned to GASP at one point advising him that this event was nothing short of perfection, out on a sunny Bank holiday Sunday , glass of cider in hand, live music, and good friends. I had last seen the Flowers while in the UK, some 25 years ago, when they were a perfect reminder of all things from home and the joyful madness of dancing all night. The Mad One and I happily let our middle aged bodies go with the music last night ( no...no one got injured !) and had a ball. Little Big Horn and his lovely Missus were also at the gig and as I walked past them I was greeted with a " Hello Bigfoodiemama" which made me smile and remind me that my alter ego has been in hiding and needed to re emerge from the wintery shadows.
Alot has been going in in my world, and I am certainly aware that as I write this dear friends of mine are struggling with loss, ill health and some heavy worries and I am thinking of them and wishing them peace of mind, health and wellness.
The Blonde, in particular has struggled this bank holiday. She dutifully and generously entertained her outlaws for Easter Sunday. Having previously having had to sell body parts to pay for spring legs of lamb she decided to " make it easy on herself" and prepared a chicken curry, a lamb curry, home made soup and brown bread ( my idea of making it easy involves M&S !) She had a lovely afternoon and this morning arose from her bed to face the clean up, Victor Meldrew having gone for a spin on his bike. Rather than face the prospect of stinking out her home with the remnants of the curry, she double bagged the leftovers and drove to leave the stinking bag in her commercial premises bin , in order not to offend anyone's nasal passages on such a hot weekend ....mmmm....it was such a good plan.....until the double bag spilt on the floor of her lovely warm car soaking onto the carpet and necessitating the Blonde getting on her hands and knees ( usually a favourite pose of hers) to mop up smelly, room temperature leftover curry and rice......as you can imagine her bank holiday is no longer sunny or warm ! Victor Meldrew's will be positively chilly methinks !
No Longer Single went to the Mullingar Alpaca Show on Easter Sunday...I kid you not ...(incidentally a baby Alpaca is a Cria not a kid ! )
She had been in contemplation of purchasing a Hembre and Macho ( Female and Male ) but it turns out that Alpaca are not something you can pick up for a few euros but in fact costs macho macho euro....€3000 each to be exact and apparently one has to go to Alpaca School before you purchase ...she is reconsidering ...especially as I advised her she can have 7 kittens for free and no schooling required ! This is a woman who owns BeyoncĂ© the pig though so she does not shirk animal responsibility.
BMM is in a real state of despair though. She carefully arranged eggs and little bunnies around her garden yesterday so that the grandchildren could have their annual egg hunt. They hunted and hunted but their Nana advised them there was still the biggest chocolate bunny to find so to keep looking. They recruited all of us ( except cousin Peter Rabbit, who had just spent 8 hours sweating in a hot cross bunny costume at a local children's event and was having no more !) but no one could find the one large rabbit. We decided at this point, that early dementia was the order of the day and that said rabbit would be found in a plastic bag upstairs but BMM was adamant she had placed it about 12 inches up in a fir tree out the front of her house....it was gone !!! Man or beast must have " hopped" into her garden , wrinkled their nose towards the sweet smelling chocolate, grabbed it between their paws and bucked off ! An Easter Mystery....or time to get Mama Rabbit assessed !
