This morning, 7 of the KOK's took to the streets of Carrickmacross for the 5k in aid of SOSAD. We arrived an hour early to register, took our selfies with our Paddies day hats on and then warmed up around the park. Following our stretches, toilet visits and chatting we lined up and took off to the tunes of Rocky "Eye of the Tiger". The girls shot off at a great pace, but my poor asthmatic lungs did not like the cool morning air, so it took quite a while before I got into it and managed a sentence.Long hills were included in the run, but we loved the downhill which followed on both occasions and were actually well fit to sprint to the finish, having thought half way in I was actually going to collapse. The KOK's decided that this was in fact a great 5 k route, but it soon became a fantastic 5k route, when we saw the refreshments inside the local hall. What a feast ! Apologies for the delay in my trilogy but the past week has been one of fractured ankles, chest pains, head injuries, calf strains, car trouble and the general mayhem, known as "life" involving those I know and love. Thankfully, all who were involved are doing well, so I can return to my musings safe in the knowledge that I am not meant to be attending to anyone. Right...back to Saturday February 20th. The Krill Oil Krazies were near demented with excitement as they boarded Chicken Rooney's minibus for the Operation Transformation 5k in the Phoenix Park. Our matching white t shirts were pristine and our KOK's were covered by our race numbers. Large bunches of bananas were passed around the bus, as was anti inflammatory gel and a blow up male doll....yes...I know !
