Shoe be do
Huge apologies fans. Having checked, I have failed to supply you with an update on my life since January 24th.....disgraceful. I vow to make far more regular contributions, as part of a heavy Lenten campaign. I have simultaneously, for the first time ever (and quite possibly the last) decided to give up the drink. GASP, a teetotaller, obviously think that drink improves my hum our or state of mind, as he is not keen that I desist from my Sauvignon Blanc, and has asked that I reconsider. Needless to say, certain friends of mine......all my friends will have a similar opinion but I am going to have a go, in the knowledge that, Easter Monday,
I will be hungover ! So what have I been up to ? I don't think we need to bridge the gap between Jan 24th and now so will go back a mere 72 hours to THE SHOE PARTY. Maxi, friend of the Mad One, very kindly invited me to her house on Friday night last for said party. It has the makings of a great night as it combined girls, drink and shoes....what's not to like ! I collected the Mad One, Culchie Dub and her sister and Andie Mc Dowell and we arrived into Maxi's full of beans. I was the designated driver ( good practice for lent) and the others were on a mission. Maxi's kitchen contained the makings of a great evening........copious amounts of wine, beer and food, including my Nigella Brownies, loved by Maxi's husband |( loved in fact, by everyone's husband). We proceeded to the gorgeous dining room, where a treasure trove of gorgeous summer shoes greeted us, spoke to us, begged us to try them on and convinced us to buy them. What a delight ! A bag I had my eye on was quickly snatched by my dental nurse, but I got hold of two great bags for the 40 year old twins of the seven dwarfs, who hit 40 today. The women all bought something, went to the kitchen, had a few drinks and then went back and bought more....perfect retail technique. The most exciting part for moi, was the fact that Brenda Donohue, from the Mooney show chose that very shoe party for her segment on the show today. Now the Mad One is quite Mad, but goes totally silent on the mere sight of a microphone, whereas I get excited and verbal, and love the thought of talking to the nation.Needless to say I made sure my voice was heard and recorded, so that I got to listen to myself on my way home from work. I may have to contact RTE however, as I was edited, which felt like a personal violation. I cannot be captured in mere seconds ! I am confident that they will devote a whole show to me in the future...I'll let you know when so you can tune in !
