Lunch and lunatics
Well, what a week ! It started on Monday (as most weeks do !)when I attended my first Ladies Lunch. For those of you who are unfamiliar with this phenomenon, basically, it consists of about 150 very well dressed women of age 35 to 80, gathering in a posh location at 12.00 midday. Here they are plied with bubbly and wine, until they totter to their table for lunch, followed by some musical entertainment....last year Johnnie Logan , this year an Elvis impersonator...well there is a recession on !I was very appropriately dressed in a little green number ( British Racing Green, VROOM, VROOM) and an extremely high pair of heels, I had knicked from the Mad One. These very expensive shoes had bright red soles, but were not Laboutins....of course, everyone would have thought they were...fine by me ! I can't really say it was my scene, but at least now I have been so can talk about it.
And talk about it I did the following night, when I had dinner with 3 friends who will be familiar to my readers but I will not name them on this occasion. I will just say that it was one of the best evenings I have ever spent, listening to the goings on in their lives, making mine appear very dull, but of this I was glad. Leaving the table to go to the loo, had to be timed perfectly as, at every turn, there was another revelation ( one more startling than the next) . I listened in huge distress, as these stories were worthy of an episode of Eastenders, and would be the most amazing blog fodder, but I am sworn to secrecy....it is killing me ! I nearly choked on my pasta on a couple of occasions, while hearing of fortunes told, romances ending, beginning and re-igniting, secrets of motherhood and sexual exploits ......whew ! It was still only Tuesday evening and already this week was going down in history.
On Wednesday evening, eldest son, aged 5, told me he had fallen in love with a girl, and Friday, I got told off by a Nun for parking in a convent parking space...it has been all go !
