29th October 2009 to now....200 !
"I have no idea what I am doing as this is the first time I have actually accessed, let alone create a blog. Let me introduce the big foodie mama. I am one week overdue my second child, hence the big and mama part and the other mainstay of my life is food, reading about it, eating it, discussing it and thinking about it. I thought a blog might be a good idea during my maternity leave so that I will have contact with the outside world and hope that it might stop my brain from shrinking...here's hoping.
I have a hopeful/funny feeling that my next blog might allow me to introduce baby no. 2 but will have to wait and see as there are no signs as yet.

5 and a half years ago this is how I started my blog. Tonight I write my 200th post and this post will see me hit the dizzy heights of 31,000 views . I truly cannot believe it. Hilariously, I started the blog to keep in touch with the outside world, yet my second post did not come until 6 months later, as my second son arrived a few hours after my first post and did not sleep.... for 2 and a half years !
I am still a foodie, the mama to 2 boys whom I adore, but I'm not quite as big. The blog has at times been a chore, usually made me smile and sometimes made me ponder but I have loved writing it. There's a great deal of therapy in writing about the various episodes in your life and the fact that they make others laugh suggests we should never take ourselves too seriously and should not "sweat the small stuff". At times I have used innuendo, vulgarity, swear words and images to illustrate my point and no one has complained.....or if they have I did not hear about it. I have the sum total of 16 actual followers, but, thanks to Facebook, a lot more readers. My blog has been read in Belize, Bahrain, Colombia, Korea, Canada, The United States, Canada, France and Germany !

1676 views was my all time highest number of views for a post called Birds, Bees and Bull on May 1st last year. It contains some of the key elements of all my posts namely references to sex, livestock and the long suffering GASP ( Gorgeous, Adorable, Suffering and Patient) . Now lest you think GASP has suffered by being the butt of so many of my blogs, you would be mistaken. He has received admiration and pity from men and respect from my female readers. Men have actually asked me to mention them in the blog and I am equally sure that some are sorry I ever mentioned them . I would like to think that I have promoted some businesses, restaurants and events and put a few places on the map. I remained incognito for some years until the Caped Crusader blog revealed my identity in my locality to 350 readers .

My readers have travelled with me through motherhood, marriage, 40th's, 45th's , Strictly Come Dancing, Couch to 5 K and beyond, sexual frustration, difficulties with foundation garments, peri menopause, pneumonia, stress, depression, joy and fun.
My biggest aim in life was to write a book, but I never knew how to start....now I realise I might actually have written one, chapter by chapter, short story after dirty ditty. Thank you to everyone who read or reads bigfoodiemama, shared her stories or laughed out loud. I ask only that you keep reading, hope it makes you smile and that you might just share it with a few friends...especially if they are likely to offer me an advance of a million for publishing and 5 million for the right to the movie...I would like BFM to be played by Adele opposite Bruce Springsteen as GASP !
